Ahmedabad: Team India captain Rohit Sharma is on the verge of a major world record as the ODI World Cup 2023 kicks off today. Sharma needs just 22 runs to become the fastest batsman to score 1,000 runs in the World Cup.
Sharma has played two World Cups so far, scoring 978 runs in 17 matches at an average of 65.20. He has also scored six centuries and three half-centuries, with a best score of 140 against Pakistan in 2019.
The Indian skipper is in great form, having batted brilliantly in the recent Asia Cup. With the World Cup underway and Sharma in good nick, Team India fans have high expectations from their captain.
